“Vigilance ponds and lakes: presence of Cyanobacteria”

This information was encountered near a lake in France two weeks ago: “Vigilance ponds and lakes: presence of cyanobacteria.” 😱

🦠 In fact, the proliferation of these bacteria is being increased even more by global warming, releasing an invisible molecule: lipopolysaccharides (LPS).

While not always toxic, when LPS are considered toxic, they can represent a major health risk if drinking water becomes contaminated.

📌 Today, surveillance is being conducted by several research institutes in France: BRGM, Ifremer, INERIS, INRAE, LNE…

🔎 Different methods for quantifying endotoxins are considered essential for corroborating the results (see quantification methods here). Vigilance should be maintained, and above all, heads should be kept out of the water! 🏊
